Ella Vatour Asks People to “Come Back to Your Senses” as the Fight for Attention Intensifies
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — September 15, 2026 — Everywhere we turn, something is asking for our attention: look, click, watch, react, buy, keep scrolling. Ella Vatour, an independent beauty and sensory wellness brand, believes that raises another increasingly important question:
What are we actually noticing?
The scent in the air. The feeling of something against the skin. A song that changes a room. The taste of dinner. The color of the sky when someone finally looks up.
Those moments sit at the center of Ella Vatour’s philosophy of sensory awareness: becoming more conscious of what we see, smell, hear, taste and feel as we move through everyday life.
Based in Northeast Ohio, founder BrookeLynn Cohol’s perspective was shaped by more than three decades of living and working in places including New York City and Los Angeles, with a career spanning professional music, film, beauty, product formulation, digital marketing and entrepreneurship. “I’ve lived in cities where something is competing for your attention every few feet, and I’ve worked in industries built around understanding how to capture it,” Cohol said. “I’ve also spent more than two decades performing music professionally and watching what sound can do to a room. Looking back, I realize I’ve been studying the senses and their effect on us for most of my professional life.”
For Ella Vatour, that story began with touch.
Its natural skincare collection grew from formulas originally created for Cohol’s family. As others began asking for them, those recipes developed into a broader line that now includes ELEVATE Whipped Tallow Face Balm and ENCHANT Eye Serum.
Now the company is extending that philosophy through smell.
Its Evolution Series includes five essential oil scent blends — EXHALE, PAUSE, FUEL, BLUM and EMBODY — created around different moments people experience while moving through change. The concept is rooted in a familiar human experience: scent can suddenly bring back a person, place or moment that may not have crossed the mind in years. Researchers have studied this through odor-evoked autobiographical memory and the relationship between smell, memory and emotion.
“We understand this almost instinctively with music,” Cohol said. “A song can come on and suddenly you’re seventeen again. You remember where you were, who you were with and sometimes even how the room felt. Scent fascinates me for the same reason.”
That led to a question behind the Evolution Series: if people naturally form associations between scent and experience, what happens when they become more intentional about the scents accompanying the experiences they are creating now?
Ella Vatour does not position the blends as treatments or claim a scent can manufacture an emotion. Each is designed to become a familiar sensory cue through repetition and personal association.
The larger invitation is simple: just pay attention.
Notice what a scent brings up. Notice how music changes a space. Notice how skincare feels against the skin. Taste the meal. Look at what is around you.
Ella Vatour brings those ideas together under a phrase now central to the brand: Come Back to Your Senses.
“Technology isn’t going anywhere, and I don’t think it needs to,” Cohol said. “This is about remembering that we are human inside all of it. We have extraordinary senses taking in our lives every single day, but with so much competing for our attention, we can start to lose touch with them. I want us to remember to use them—to notice more, experience more and pay attention to the life that’s actually happening around us.”
Ella Vatour’s pro-aging skincare conversation has resonated strongly with men and women over 40, while its broader sensory philosophy—and the Evolution Series itself—is designed for anyone looking to leverage their focus and attention.
Sensory awareness doesn’t belong to a generation, an age group or a demographic. It’s human. And as technology changes the way we live faster than most of us can even process, I think our senses are something we need to hold onto even tighter. The ability to notice. To experience. To be here. To pay attention to you and the life actually happening around you.
See it. Smell it. Hear it. Taste it. Feel it. Come Back to Your Senses.
